Shakespeare at Half House Farm

aerial farm.jpg

The Sixteenth Century Yeoman farmhouse, built in 1575, just eleven years after Shakespeare’s birth, provides a fitting historical backdrop.

With 20 productions already performed here, Half House Farm is where it all began in 2013 and continues to be a cornerstone of the Bowler Crab experience. Audiences at Half House Farm enjoy Shakespeare in a setting unlike any other, surrounded by the beauty of the countryside with the rustic charm of a 16th-century farmhouse as the backdrop to the stage.

Romeo & Juliet will be performed on three different weekends across the summer of 2026: Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, and Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August. Our first production of Romeo & Juliet opened in April 2013, the 3rd production the company had embarked on; now some 13 years later, Bowler Crab are proud to revive the title for its first performance at the farm in as many years.

Every production the Bowler Crab company have ever created has had at least one rehearsal at Half House Farm (if not all of them) regardless of whether that specific tour had a performance there scheduled.
